Advanced Blemish Removal

Small skin concerns can have a big impact on confidence. Advanced blemish removal is a professional cosmetic service designed to reduce the appearance of common, benign skin lesions such as tags, milia, red blood spots, thread veins and certain pigmentation concerns.

This page is here to explain what can be treated, what to expect, and when you’ll need medical clearance first.

What is advanced blemish removal?

Advanced blemish removal is a targeted treatment used to improve the look of suitable minor skin lesions. The method used depends on what the lesion is, its size and location, and your skin type. Treatment is always consultation-led and your safety comes first.

Important: This is a cosmetic service and not a medical diagnosis or skin cancer screening. If a lesion looks suspicious, changes shape/colour, bleeds, crusts, grows rapidly, or is new and unusual for you, it must be checked by your GP/dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment.

What we can treat

Suitability depends on the lesion type, size, depth, location, and your medical history. Below are common concerns we may be able to treat:

Red / vascular lesions

  • Campbell De Morgan blood spots (also known as cherry angiomas): tiny bright-red spots caused by small blood vessels.
  • Cherry angiomas: small red “cherry-like” bumps (same family as blood spots).
  • Spider naevi: a central red dot with fine vessels radiating out.
  • Thread veins: fine visible capillaries (commonly face and sometimes legs; suitability varies).
  • Telangiectasia: small widened capillaries often seen around the nose and cheeks.

Bumps and benign growths

  • Milia: tiny firm white/yellow bumps, often around the eyes and cheeks.
  • Skin tags: soft, small, flesh-coloured growths found in friction areas.
  • Seborrhoeic keratosis: waxy or textured “stuck-on” growths (requires careful screening).
  • Dermatosis papulosa nigra: small benign brown/black bumps, commonly on face/neck (requires specialist technique and suitability checks).
  • Sebaceous hyperplasia: small yellowish bumps caused by enlarged oil glands (often on the face).
  • Syringoma: tiny firm bumps from sweat glands (commonly under-eye; suitability depends on location/skin).

Warts

  • Filiform warts: thin, finger-like warts (often face/neck; suitability varies).
  • Common warts: rough raised warts, typically hands and knees.
  • Verruca (plantar wart): warts on the soles of the feet (can be stubborn and may require multiple sessions or referral).

Pigmentation and marks

  • Age spots: flat tan/brown patches linked to sun exposure.
  • Pigmentation: uneven tone or dark marks (type and cause matter; some types are not suitable).
  • Non-pigmented moles: flesh-coloured moles (only if clearly benign and suitable; many require GP/derm clearance first).
  • Blue naevi: blue/blue-grey mole-like lesions (often require medical assessment before considering cosmetic treatment).

Lesions that often need medical input first

  • Sebaceous cysts: lumps under the skin are usually best assessed medically; cosmetic removal is not always suitable.
  • Xanthelasma: yellowish cholesterol-related plaques near eyelids often benefit from medical input; suitability varies.

If you’re unsure what your lesion is, that’s completely normal — a consultation (or a photo check first) can help confirm whether it’s suitable, or whether you’d be better seeing your GP first.

What to expect

Consultation first

We’ll review the area, ask about your medical history, and discuss what result is realistic. You’ll be given a clear plan, expected healing, and aftercare guidance.

Treatment

Treatment is precise and targeted. Sensation varies by area, but you may feel warmth, a quick prickling feeling, or mild discomfort.

Healing

Healing depends on what is treated. It’s common to experience:

  • mild redness or swelling
  • a small dry crust or tiny scab on the treated area
  • the area looking darker before it lightens (especially with pigmentation)

Most clients return to normal routines quickly, but you’ll need to follow aftercare carefully for the best results.

Results and sessions

Some lesions respond in one session; others require multiple treatments. We’ll advise you honestly based on the type and size of the lesion.

Safety first: when we cannot treat

For your safety, we won’t treat lesions that are:

  • changing in size, shape or colour
  • bleeding, ulcerated, crusting or not healing
  • irregular, very dark, multi-coloured, or newly appearing without explanation
  • suspicious in any way without GP/derm clearance

We also may not treat if you are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, are on specific medications, or if the skin is irritated/sunburnt/infected in the area.

Before your appointment

  • Avoid sun exposure and sunburn on the area.
  • Avoid picking, scratching or attempting DIY removal.
  • If you’re using strong actives (retinoids/acids) near the area, stop them in advance as advised.
  • Arrive with clean skin and no heavy makeup on the treatment area.

(You’ll receive personalised prep guidance after your consultation based on what you’re having treated.)

Book a consultation

If you’d like to discuss a specific concern, book an advanced blemish removal consultation. If you can, share a clear photo in good daylight so we can advise on suitability and the best next step.
